We are excited to share that we (Mitchell, Krystal & Mason Murphy) have officially taken the reins of Dan’s Fly Shop, a long-time staple in our community. As a family deeply connected to Lake City, we are thrilled to embark on this new journey together.

My passion for fly fishing began right here in Lake City when I was just a kid. I started teaching at Lakeview Lodge and Resort in 2002 when I was 12 years old and started guiding for Dan in high school and throughout college. My guiding experiences at Dan’s Fly Shop, along with years spent guiding Tarpon and Snook in Florida, have not only honed my skills but also deepened my love for the sport. I am eager to share this passion with others.

Krystal, who also loves to fish and being outdoors, decided to become my wife while on a memorable fly fishing trip in Lake City, and she brings a wealth of management experience with her. An enthusiastic fly fisherman herself, Krystal is looking forward to leading classes and outreach programs to help inspire and bring more women and kids into the sport.

Together, we plan to elevate Dan’s Fly Shop with innovative classes, exciting community events like “Match the Hatch” and “Kids Fly Fishing Lessons,” and we’re also thrilled to bring the F3T Fly Fishing Film Festival to town. Our commitment to the sport and our community promises to create a warm and inviting atmosphere for both seasoned anglers and newcomers alike. We invite everyone to join us on this exciting journey as we celebrate the beauty of fly fishing and the spirit of Lake City!
